The Best in Dining at Exuma Restaurants

Exuma Island in the Bahamas offers some of the very best in both fine dining and great casual fare, with a flair of the islands traditional cuisine that is sure to make your holiday a truly unforgettable experience.

Resort Restaurants

The Four Seasons Resort at Emerald Bay is home to 3 of the most fantastic restaurants in the Exumas:

Exuma RestaurantsTing'm, which is located adjacent to the beach, holds an open air dining room with a breathtaking view of Emerald Bay. It is the perfect setting for an afternoon break, or in the evening you can experience the romantic ambience with a gorgeous tropical sunset draped over you while you dine. With fine traditional Bahamian cuisine including conch fritters and lobster poppers, as well as Americana food like full size and mini burgers, sandwiches and wraps, and delectable salads, Ting’m could very well be the answer to your dining dreams! Visit the Lobster Roll fun place, where you can dine in swimwear! Attire for daytime is swimwear with a wrap for women, and men should have shorts and a T-shirt. Shoes are mandatory for both men and women. Evening attire should be resort casual.

The second of these little treasures is the Sea Breeze Restaurant, which is a self contained restaurant on the resort. The tropical atmosphere offers a quaint dining experience serving what many have declared the very best breakfast buffet on the entire island. In the buffet you will find many styles of eggs including gourmet omelets, lobster, and every morning a new and exciting fruit drink. Sea Breeze’s evening menu delivers unique multi-cultural cuisine from the tropical seas to the Italian oven. Recently, they have introduced the only Chinese menu available on the island with exciting new twists to traditional Chinese dishes. A children’s menu is also available.

The third, and possibly the most enchanting and alluring of the three treasures of the Four Seasons Resort’s restaurants, is Il Cielo. Its floor to ceiling glass panels creates a bright and open ambience that overlooks the ocean and pools of the resort. Serving quite possibly the finest gourmet Italian cuisine and the freshest locally caught seafood, Il Cielo is an absolute must for any vacationer to the Exumas. Dishes are accompanied with a delectable fine wine and the dessert menu is to die for. Ask for the chocolate hot cake upon ordering your main course for the perfect finale to your meal. Oozing with the sweetest and most delectable chocolate, push down on the centre of this treat to create a haven for some creamy ice cream and chocolate topping for a sweet trio of heaven for your taste buds. A truly unforgettable dessert that will entice you to be back for more. After dinner, head to the casino for some lively roulette or try your hand at your favorite game of chance. The Four Seasons Resort at Emerald Bay’s restaurants will enhance your vacation to the ultimate getaway; one that will entice you to return to the island for another unforgettable and exquisite holiday.

Make your way to the Club Peace and Plenty Restaurant off the Queens Highway in George Town for a wonderful meal that you are sure to remember. Serving traditional Bahamian, American, and Continental food, Club Peace and Plenty’s chefs will surely satisfy. Try their delicious conch salad for a starter, then move on to one of their specialties, tenderly steamed grouper with tomatoes, sautéed onions, sweet peppers, all lightly seasoned with thyme. A local favorite that is full of flavor and style that will delight. For your grand finale, tempt your palette with one of their delectably sinful desserts. Looking over the harbor as you dine creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and you might just catch a glimpse of a celebrity sitting at a table close by. Reservations are required for dinner and dress is resort casual.

Stocking Island

Chat & Chill is a definite must for any beachcomber! Accessible only by boat, or for the more adventurous, snorkel and swim, this little jewel on Stocking Island is a must on your itinerary. A small but delightful wooden shack down the beach offers the famous fresh conch salad served mild, medium, or suicide hot for the ultra brave. Weekends serve up a Texas Bar B.Q. “Bahamian Style” with a suckling mouth watering pig for the main attraction. Ribs that are so tender they melt off the bone as you bring it to your mouth is an addiction you will not soon forget. So famous is this little hut that the t-shirts of previous U.S. and Canadian team visitors are hanging from the rafters above. A truly great place to chat while chillin’ at the bar in front of the T.V.; cheering on your favorite teams.

Around the Island

Exuma RestaurantsOff of the resort and around the island are a few jewels that are more than worth visiting while on the Exumas. Big D’s Conch Spot is among the definite must try’s. Only 5 minutes past the main entrance of the Four Seasons Resort, you will arrive at this roadside bar and restaurant that offers the absolute best “conch burgers”. With ice cold beer and a breathtaking beach to lie back on, you will be thankful that this little oasis, which has been in business for over 30 years, exists.

Closer to the elegant and majestic Oceania Heights properties lies Castaways Restaurant. Less than a 3 minute drive from the estates, Castaways in Moss Town specializes in the true Bahamian breakfast of stewed fish and mouth watering grits. While there, try the freshly cracked and lightly breaded fried conch, which is sure to delight all seafood lovers.

Within 10 minutes of Oceania Heights is Pallapa Bar & Grill, which lies adjacent to the Four Seasons and overlooks the endless beauty of the Emerald Bay. The gourmet chefs at Pallapa emphasize freshness and unique culinary flavors in their traditional Bahamian dishes, as well as a featured continental fare menu. Dining poolside next to the beautiful Infinity pool is highly recommended, which is open daily for lunch in addition to some select nights for dinner.

Last, but certainly not least, Cheaters Restaurant & Bar. Cheaters is highly recommended by the Four Seasons as well as the locals. Enjoy their succulent mouth watering lobster while dining outside as you watch the breath taking sunset fold into the night. For a romantic evening, have some fine wine or cocktails under the Bahamian stars.

Whichever Exuma restaurants you choose from among the above list, it will be sure to enhance your holiday in every way. Each restaurant is an experience in its own and the cuisine is most definitely among the very best in freshness, flavor, and culinary artistry. Whatever your taste preference, the restaurants of Exuma Island are sure to satisfy.
